The Story
There is a lot of information out there about manifestation, personal growth, and becoming the best version of yourself. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming. With so many books, podcasts, videos, and opinions, it’s easy to get lost searching for the perfect formula.
This journal is built around a simple principle:
Dig your ditches, and the water will come.
The phrase comes from a biblical story found in 2 Kings 3. The Story is about three kings and their armies getting trapped in a scorching hot desert without any water. Their situation seemed hopeless. Exhausted, thirsty, and running out of options, they sought guidance from the prophet Elisha.
Through God’s instructions, Elisha told them to do something that seemed strange:
Dig ditches throughout the dry valley.
There were no clouds in the sky. No sign of water. No evidence the water was on the way.
Yet the armies obeyed.
They dug.
And they kept digging.
The next morning, water flowed into the valley and filled the ditches they had prepared. Because they had done the work beforehand, they were ready to receive what they needed when it arrived.
This story captures the process of creating meaningful changes in your life.
Believe enough to prepare for the outcome before you can see it, then keep preparing until reality catches up to you.
The moral of the story can be applied to any goal. Whether it’s improving your health, building a business, strengthening your relationships, achieving financial freedom, or becoming the person you know you are capable of being.
Faith isn’t isn’t waiting for the water. Faith is digging the ditch.
You don’t control when the water comes. You do control whether you’ve dug the ditches when it arrives.
Use the 5-step framework based on this story as a tool to help you stay organized, focused, and believe in yourself as you dig your ditches to collect your water.
Now grab a shovel and start digging.
